Axon Ladder is easily the magnum opus from Prants (Chris Cooper, Bhob Rainey). Begun in 2012, completed in 2019, in the words of an early listener, “It goes everywhere and does everything.” An unconditionally giving, irreverent alien symphony that is less a follow-up to 2015’s Hot Shaker Meet Lead Donut and more an all-encompassing codex on rare beauties in friendship, holy and unholy rackets, and the pleasures of being porous.
